# How can users activate Two-Factor Authentication?

**Two**-**factor authentication** is an extra layer of security for SnagR application.

It is designed to ensure that you are the only person who can access your account. Users have to provide **two** different **authentication factors** to verify themselves to protect the resource that the user can access.

Once your account is created, you will receive an email notification like this. Due to advanced password security setting , you will have to click **Set New Password** and it will brings you to reset password page.

Enter the new password and click **Save New Password**

Click **Login**

At this stage, you have to use your device to generate a verification code. Here are the steps of how you generate the verification code:

Click "**Yes,I'm ready to scan"** to scan the QR code

Go to your app store on your iOS or Android device and install any TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) supporting app such as Google Authenticator, 2FA Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator.

*The steps below are using Google Authenticator as an example*

Enter the 6-digit code and click verify

You can now login to projects!
